New Brands: Looking Ahead to 2020

Posted on

Here at Meet Bernard what we’re really excited about this year is the host of amazing brands that we’ll be bringing to you, our loyal and local customers in 2020.

Every year we strive to bring you pieces for him, her and the home from around the globe and bring them to the heart of South-East London. We also look for those brands that have local goodness and an interesting backstory, pieces that use genuine, sustainable and honest materials and fabrics that should culminate in a lifetime purchase.

It’s a win, win; we support brands from around the globe that are battling the big guys and trying to make a name in the world of fashion and homeware, AND we bring you back product that you love and hopefully keep coming back for. The one rule when we’re buying new product is that we’d wear it ourselves because we love the look and the story, so we try to get brands in that you’ll struggle to spot everywhere.

We should also add, the brands in this piece won’t be all the brands we’re adding for 2020 but we wanted to give a special mention to the new ones you’ll find in store now and over the coming weeks:

So, 2020 will see additions to our brands for him, her and the home and we start off with the London brand Universal Works just for him.

These guys have been making waves for a couple of years now, so we’re stoked to have them on our rails. David Keyte, the founder, launched UW in 2009 from his kitchen table and embarked on journey to launch, simple and minimally designed menswear.
We love the simple and honest roots of Universal Works and their classic but contemporary approach to work-wear is right on the money for us.

We’ve also got a beautiful new sock brand in from masters of design RoToTo in Japan.

These are some seriously punchy socks, full-of colour bursts and stitched from the finest threads. They’ll keep your toes warm right through winter and beyond. Great paired up with your favourite sneakers.

For her, we’ve got gorgeous new boots and shoes from Miista. Laura Villasenin, the Founder, originally from Alicante in Spain; moved out to London’s East Hackney to launch this fantastic brand hence the E8 line that we buy into.

Miista unites the nostalgia of rural Spanish heritage and combines it with a modernist female sentimen, she’s worked up beautiful designs into timeless styles. Miista boots are a real lifetime pickup, formed from beautiful Italian leathers and unexpected materials.

Finally, one for the knitwear fans we have found a superb little label, the Shetland Knitwear Co who make earnest and clean knitwear at a very reasonable price.

These luxurious crew necks have been worn by the likes of Mick Jagger, so they pack a real punch of warmth and premium quality - using only the finest Shetland wool and handmade in the heart of Scotland.

If you’ve been in one of our stores, you know we’re always keeping it fresh, adding items here and there; so this certainly doesn’t cover all the brands we’ll be buying this year.

The next few months spell excitement for us, with plenty of new releases, a couple of local brands (more to follow soon…) and some new faces around the store.

Nobody knows South-East London style like Meet Bernard, drop by either our Greenwich or Dulwich stores to get your hands on some of our 2020 new releases. You can also head over to the site for a bit of online perusing.

Here's to a whole lot of newness coming your way...
