In November last year, we took a huge step. It was a step we’d been wanting to make for a while but had never taken before. We opened a second store.
We opened our second branch of Meet Bernard on East Dulwich’s very own North Cross Road, taking number 37 as our little slice of this glorious part of town.
It started out as a pop-up store over Christmas, but we’re now making the move permanent. We’ll be opening the shop up, doing a swanky refurb and bringing the womenswear over in the summer.
East Dulwich has always been in our hearts and minds, a real jewel in the crown of the South-East; renowned for its independent scene of bakeries, coffee shops, galleries and much more.
We’ve always admired East Dulwich (from across the way in Greenwich), so to finally get the opportunity to open our doors there has been a dream come true. East Dulwich embodies the true South-East spirit, the spirit that we try to channel through our clothing and homeware - the spirit of local goodness and the spirit of local style.
Talk to the people of Dulwich and they’ll tell you just how proud they are of their little (but growing) highstreet, packed to the rafters with independent stores channeling local skill and local produce.
If you’re looking to brush up on your reading, and unearth a modern classic, try East Dulwich’s most famous independent bookstore, Rye Books. If you’re looking for beautiful foliage and flowers, try Forest, if you’re after the best cheese in London, try Mons Cheesemongers - basically, East Dulwich is a thriving hub of small businesses hustling to bring real quality to the people.
But when it comes to South-East style, nobody gets it quite like us, so Meet Bernard and East Dulwich felt like a match made in heaven.
We’ll be bringing all our latest pieces to the East Dulwich front. You’ll find all your favourite brands for him, her and the home plus some slightly different offerings - we’ll be spreading the love from both our Greenwich and East Dulwich stores.
So, if you’re ever wandering down the old and famous Lordship Lane, swing off the highstreet and drop by number 37 North’s Cross road to see some friendly faces.
If you’d like to read a bit more about some of our new brands for 2020, brew yourself a cuppa and take a read here.
In the meantime, love from all of us at Meet Bernard x
