We wanted to shake things up a dash and pull together some Easter quirkiness, a little curation of some alternative points of interest, some real local gems that you can fill your bank holiday and beyond with.
This little selection will keep you topped up on some authentic local goodness, from places to eat, places to booze and places to chill.
It’s so special that you actually can’t reserve a table, so if you don’t have luck this bank holiday weekend; shuffle on down during the week, it’s worth eating out on a school night for this slice of South Korean authenticity.
This swinging cavern is the perfect spot to spend an evening. Expect jazz, expect excellent cocktails and see if you can spot the delightful Oliver (he’s the french dude) who will be happy to tell you all about the history of the place, quite the hidden gem.
Those in the know about Oliver’s will tell you it’s actually one of the best jazz bars in the whole city, but let’s keep it that way. Hush, hush.
This is some serious stuff. Possibly the best coffee in London? (a big call) but this little independent is doing some serious bits in the coffee scene. Expect outrageously good flat whites and even complimentary sparkling water on draft. That’s a thing now.
This really is quirky. Yes, it’s a fan museum, of actual paper fans but its located in a gorgeous Georgian town house in the heart of maritime Greenwich. This little slice of solace is perfect for escaping the tourists, slide into a world of fan-like decadence and explore the history of the truly elegant fans of days gone by. You can even grab afternoon tea and cake in the Orangery if you’re feeling really civilised.
This little book shop is a hell of a find. It’s so tucked away behind brick lane that you’d probably never spot it, and they really don’t make a song and dance of where they are, they like to keep their promotions subtle and low key; letting the readers and book lovers come to them through the grapevine. But just look at it. If you’re after a new read for Easter and beyond, this is the place to stop by.
