As the leaves begin to change colour, twist and fall, and the nights draw in, October's Meet Bernard playlist offers nearly two hours of cosy tunes to ward off the autumn blues.
The 28-track selection kicks off with Ray Williams' Cosmopolitan London, which given the bitterness around Brexit, serves as a reminder that differences ought to be embraced and celebrated.
Perhaps the third item, Ruth Brown's 1959 stunner I Don't Know, is a more apt reference to the political crisis being deepened by Boris Johnson's words and deeds.
There is another sensational soul song here, Together Let's Find Love by The 5th Dimension, and I'd be interested to know if anyone can recognise where it has been sampled?
My favourite tunes this month are as follows: Trans-Alpine Express, by The Elderstatesman (check out the first track on the EP, Montreux Sunrise, which is just as beautiful); Nu Guinea's Je Vulesse, which I heard at Nova Batida in Lisbon in mid-September; and – for its uniqueness – Speed Racer by Fernanda Abreu, from 1990.
