Coming soon to Meet Bernard: BROOKS ENGLAND

By mbcrew .

Over almost a century and a half, Brooks England has grown from a small workshop to a byword in quality craftsmanship. Back in 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket.

He headed for Birmingham, where in 1866 he established a business in horse harnesses and general leather goods in Great Charles Street under the name JB Brooks & Co. In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr Brooks’ horse led to a stroke of inspiration. Unable to afford another horse, he borrowed a bicycle in order to commute to work. He found the seat so uncomfortable that he vowed to do something about it.

On 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first saddle patent. Waddling cyclists everywhere rejoiced and the new product was a roaring success. Soon, Bernard will have his very own saddle from our friends a Brooks England. These will make a perfect Christmas gift for any man who values his rear and wants to look good while racing towards his destination…

MB Crew: Sean’s picks and Q&A

By mbcrew November 14, 2011.

Each week our Meet Bernard team will let you know their favorite looks and give you a snipet into their world with a small Q&A. First up is store manager, Sean!

When I asked him to put a look together he said: “two words: Marty McFly”.  So, inspired by the Back to the Future kid, here’s Sean’s favourite look for Autumn/Winter 2011.

Staff Pick: Sean.

Sean’s gone for the Norse Projects, Norse Beanie, Carhartt’s Hodded Chase Jacket, Penfield’s Outback Vest. Cedar Creek shirt from Obey, Nudie Grim Tim, and Adidas Originals ZX8000

Cheers for that Sean. Now if you don’t mind, a few questions…

What’s the oldest item of clothing you own:  Adidas ‘Metro Attitudes’. Had them for about ten years.

Which brand is currently getting your love? Has to be Stussy.

First record/tape/CD you bought with your own money? Aerosmith’s, A Little South of Sanity. This is actually a little lie… I just found out it was AQUA!

Any embarrassing crushes? Joe Gordon Levitt

Where was your first snog? Gossip’s underage party in St. Austell, Cornwall.

Button or zip fly? Button

Boxers or pants? Boxers

Shoes or trainers? Trainers

Jeans or chinos? Jeans

Tea or Coffee? Coffee

He-Man or Thunder Cats? Thunder Cats

DC or Marvel? Marvel

Beatles or The Rolling Stones? The Stones

Digital or Analogue? Digital

So there you go! Now you know a little more about Meet Bernard’s store manager.

Keeping the 8mm movement alive is what iSupr8 is about. It’s not just a fun novelty app, it is an effort to revive and increase awareness of a commercially dying format to a new generation, as well as a production tool for filmmakers seeking an authentic, vintage look.

While developing iSupr8, a majority of the time and energy was spent making sure that the colour grade was as authentic as possible. No filters or cheap overlays in the coloring process.

Here’s two examples of what you can actually do:

Not only has iSupr8 created a great app, you can join a growing community and see what community members are making too! Check it out: iSupr8
